On September 14, 2024, the Real Arena stadium in San Sebastian will host the match of the 5th round of La Liga between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. The game is scheduled to kick off at 22:00, and the broadcast can be seen on the MEGOGO and Volia TV platforms.

Real Sociedad
The Basque club started the season unsuccessfully, winning only one of four matches, although the opponents at the start were far from the most difficult. Perhaps Imanol Alguacil's team has not yet gained optimal form, or it is all about personnel losses: in the summer, Real Sociedad lost two key players - Robin Le Normand and Mikel Merino, European champions with the Spanish national team. Despite high-quality reinforcements and the signing of five new players, the Basques have not yet been able to stabilize their results.

Real Sociedad took all of the four points scored on the road. The team squeezed out a 1-0 win over Espanyol thanks to the individual brilliance of Take Kubo and drew 0-0 with Getafe. However, the "Churi-Urdín" suffered two defeats at home with the same score of 1-2 against Rayo Vallecano and Alaves. Discontent among fans is growing, and the match against Real Madrid will be an important test for Alguacil's team.

Real
The Madrid club is yet to lose in the new season, but has not avoided dropping points either. After draws with Mallorca and Las Palmas, Carlo Ancelotti's team has eight points and is four points behind leaders Barcelona. Despite the advantage in the game and the chances created, Real is not yet showing the confidence that its fans are accustomed to. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior do not always finish attacks successfully, and the defense sometimes makes mistakes, which leads to goals conceded.

However, at home, the Madrid team was more successful, winning two times without conceding a goal. But these matches were also difficult. Against Valladolid, the team was able to open the scoring only in the second half, thanks to a goal from Fede Valverde from a free kick, after which they brought the matter to a victory (3:0). In the game against Betis, Valverde distinguished himself again, making a great pass to Mbappe, who scored his first goal in La Liga. The Frenchman scored a double, converting a penalty, ensuring the final victory 2:0.

Forecast
Both teams are under pressure: Real Sociedad needs a home win to break the losing streak, and Real Madrid must continue the chase with Barcelona.
