Match review

Manchester City secured a confident 4-1 win over Ipswich Town in the second round of the English Premier League, despite an unexpected goal from the opponent early in the match.

The game started sensationally: already in the first minutes, Sammy Smodic, having received a pass from Benjamin Johnson, managed to escape one-on-one with Ederson and opened the scoring in favor of Ipswich. However, the guests' joy was short-lived. The champions quickly recovered and began to regain control of the game. A key role in the comeback was played by Savio, the team's newcomer, who recently moved from Girona.

First, Savio earned a penalty, which Erling Haaland confidently converted. Then, thanks to his activity, Kevin de Bruyne scored the second goal, taking advantage of a mistake by Arjenet Muric, the former Manchester City goalkeeper. Muric lost the ball on the edge of the penalty area, and De Bruyne sent it into an empty net.

Before Ipswich had time to recover, De Bruyne made another contribution, this time with a superb long pass that led to Haaland's second goal. Muric made a poor interception, allowing the Norwegian to score a brace.

The second half was completely under Manchester City's control. Ipswich created almost no dangerous moments, while the Citizens continued to press and create threats near the opponent's goal. Haaland converted one of these moments, scoring his third goal of the match after a mistake by Muric, thereby completing a hat-trick.

In the final minutes, Jack Grealish was clearly brought down in the opponent's penalty area, but the referee showed him a yellow card for simulation instead of a penalty.
